So I just returned from a week at Woodward in Pennsylvania. And let me tell you damn is that place huge! The camp hosts over 700 campers per week! The campus is basically a self contained playground for anybody. Woodward originally started with gymnastics and cheerleading has now expanded into sports like BMX, skateboarding, and now snowboarding. Thats where I come into play. When I got the call asking if I would like to be a guest for the week to hang and practice with the snowboard program I instantly agreed. Here are just a few photos from my week of action in PA.
Day 1 we are rolling around camp (Oh did I forget to mention they even have golf carts to get around) getting the tour and this beast of a slip'n'slide catches my eye. Instantly my new friend Brandon and I jump from the moving cart and dive in for a nice little hour long session. I even rode a shark off the jump you can see on the left hand side of the photo. It was awesome.
The snake run. This is a blast! This is one of over 10 skate parks on the camp grounds. You can mob through this course.
Every morning we would start the day with some trampoline time. Throughout the week there would be a few contests for the campers to win some prizes. This is a picture from the high jump contest. Also one of the funniest things to see when a camper would pile drive the pads they were suppose to jump over.
Chris Cole and the rest of the Zero skate team were also at camp for the week. Cole brought a group of underprivileged inner city kids to camp. Its nice to see people in the action sports community giving back. Later in the week the guys put on a little demo for everyone. You may have seen the webcast. It was insane.
Here I am having a little fun on the snoasis box. They have this snow gel that helps your glide on this carpet like surface so you can hit the box. Kids were going off! Never thought I would be shredding in PA in August before.
All and all I had an awesome time. I have always wanted to go to Woodward and now that I have gone I can't wait to go back!
Adios Amigos!
